4G LTE in Nigeria: What to Expect


4G-LTE is the 4th Generation mobile communication network in the Long-Term Evolution series (a technical process for high-speed data for phones and other mobile devices), taking mobile communication to a whole new level. The 4G-LTE network which evolved from the UTMS 3G/HSPA+, brings a total paradigm shift from the circuit switch network architecture to an all Internet Protocol (IP) packet switch architecture thus bringing a total end to the Telco/ISP “dichotomy” and data to the forefront over the traditional telecommunication services.

S. Africa, Ghana and Nigeria top the list of mobile Application Users in Africa




Opera, has released its State of the Mobile Web Africa 2016 Report, highlighting mobile internet trends across the continent, including consumer browsing behaviour and app usage. 
Opera – known for its compression technology and mobile browsers, including Opera Mini – compiles regular, global mobile web reports, shedding light on opportunities and challenges within the digital environment.

South Africa leads in mobile application usage with around a third of the population using mobile apps. This compares to 31% in Ghana, 28% in Nigeria, 19% in Kenya and 18% in Uganda.

Video Calling gets rolled out onto WhatsApp

 

WhatsApp’s impending support for video calling appears to be closer to launch. According to news reports, the feature is now functional in some of the beta builds of the Android application, following its recent arrival in the Windows Phone version of the Facebook-owned messaging app.

WhatsApp announced the launch of several new camera features in its Android application.
First, new photo- and video-editing tools allow users to add emoji, drawings and text to their images and videos before sharing them with friends. When adding text, users have the option to change the text’s color and font style.
